Konstantinos Vasilakis is currently Special Secretary of the Greek Parliament. He was moved to this position in October 2015, after an extensive experience (4/2004-10/2012) as Parliament Officer at the Directorate for Legislative Work of the Parliament and at the Directorate for Parliamentary Committees, as Acting Special Secretary of the Permanent Committee on Environmental Protection, and more recently, as Responsible for Documentation at the Official Opposition Leader’s Office (9/2012-1/2015) and Head of the administrative and financial assistance office of the Government General Secretariat (3/2015-10/2015).
Mr. Vasilakis began his career as researcher at the University of Patras (1989-1991). During the period 1991-2001 he was Program Coordinator of the “Hellenic Ornithological Society” (1991-1993) and then President of the Society (1993-2001). He left this position to assume duties as Advisor at Agrotouristiki S.A., WWF Greece and Mom (Society for research and protection of the Mediterranean monk seal), as well as responsible of the Athens office of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos (2001-2002). He continues his career as Advisor on environmental issues at the office of Mr. Nikos Konstantopoulos, president of Synaspismos (2003-2004).
Mr. Vasilakis was for many years member of the Board of Directors of the environmental organizations “Hellenic Ornithological Society”, “Hellenic Society for the Environment and Cultural Heritage”, “Mom”, “Evonymos Ecological Library” and “European Environmental Bureau”.
He has written ten environmental and children’s books published by Livani Publishing Organization; he graduated from the University of Patras (Faculty of Physics, Department of Biology, 1989) and holds an MSc in Architecture and space Design – Direction: Urban and spatial Planning, National Technical University (2000).
