Mr. Zavras is CEO at Piraeus Bank, supervises the Green Banking and the Environmental Unit of the Group.
Expansion of green business, planning environmental banking products, reducing environmental impact and estimating environmental risk of businesses, are some of his main responsibilities in his current position.
Since July 2009 he is CEO at ETVA VI. PE. SA, a subsidiary company of the Group, managing 27 organized industrial areas in Greece. He is currently Chairman of the Hellenic Fund for Sustainable Development (est. 2014), aiming at capital participation and supporting business plans with contributory environmental and social indicators.
He is also member of the Piraeus Bank Corporate Responsibility Committee and since May 2011 he is member of the Piraeus Bank Cultural Foundation BoD, of the company ‘Piraeus Capital Management’ BoD, of the ‘Piraeus-TANEO Capital Fund’ Investment Committee and the Urban Development Fund of Central Macedonia and Thessaly Investment Committees.
Since 1988 he is active in environmental protection and in drawing up sustainable development plans for coastal and island regions.
From 2001 until August 2004 he was member of the first Board of Directors of the first National Centre for Environment and Sustainable Development (NCESD founded by P.D., from 2006 until 2012 he served as BoD Vice-President of WWF Hellas and from 1992 until 2001 as President of the environmental NGO “Mom”.
He was born in February 1963 in Athens, studied at the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus and graduated as Technologist in Civil Engineering with specialization in Transport Εngineering. From 1982 until 1988 he worked in the private sector at Studies Offices drawing up public and private projects’ studies.
Vrasidas Zavras lives in Athens and speaks English and French.
